Gates of Fire
by Steven Pressfield

Impressions:
This may be my favorite book to read during training ever! As far as, favorite book overall, it holds a significant place at the top.

Though it is a fictional historical account of the Battle of Thermopylae.
It still manage to tap into the mindset and "espirit" of military romanticism; especially the ideals of honor, integrity and working & dying for a cause greater than yourself.

As a daughter of a soldier. Those ideals permeate a large part of my life. Gates of Fire is just the kind of book that reminds you of those values.

I can see why it holds a place on the Entry Level-USMC Commandant's Professional Reading List.

Also, I am an avid fan of Steven Pressfield's other books; which I hope to feature here as well.

"A king does not abide within his tent while his men bleed and die upon the field. A king does not dine while his men go hungry, nor sleep when they stand at watch upon the wall. A king does not command his men's loyalty through fear nor purchase it with gold; he earns their love by the sweat of his own back and the pains he endures for their sake. That which comprises the harshest burden, a king lifts first and sets down last. A king does not require service of those he leads but provides it to them...A king does not expend his substance to enslave men, but by his conduct and example makes them free”-Steven Pressfield, Gates of Fire

Magic Bullet blender mini

Impressions:
I have had our Magic Bullet blender for more then 10+ years. It is convenient and really reliable. I love using it for small batch chopping and mixing. I also use it for frothing or whipping nut milks/dairy free milk for coffee every morning. It has some hiccups, like some of the tabs on the cups break easily, but that didn't begin til years later and easily replaceable.

Highly recommend for small batch blending of any kind.

Sport Insulated Polar Bottle®

Impressions:
I have had my Sport Insulated Polar bottle for more than 15+ years. It fits perfectly in every exercise machine water holder, and bike water bottle holder. It fits in most mesh side carriers on hiking and regular school backpacks. I have brought it EVERYWHERE-schools, hiking, gym workouts etc. It's durable and the lid stays secure, no matter how many times I've accidentally dropped on a gym floor.  It's wide mouth makes it easy to wash with a brush and rinse with hot water and air dry. That goes for the lids as well. I've never had issues with trapped bacteria, that sometimes can happen with other water jugs or shakers.

One feature is that the company will send you replaceable lids if there is wear and tear. I requested some out of curiosity, in case, bacteria ever became trapped under the rubber. But it hasn't happened yet, now I have 2 free lids in case :)

As a company I love their mission and values of keeping individuals active and hydrated no matter where they are in the world.
